Dedicated Differences

September 10, 2009

So what are the differences between dedicated hosting and shared hosting?  It can be described easily, if you put it in food terms. (Yeah, I know – a little strange, but follow me on this one).

Dedicated hosting is a type of hosting plan or account that gives you more access to server resources and the ability to modify more things on the server to better suit your web sites.  You can think of it as the most expensive mouth watering steak on the men at a five star restaurant.

Shared hosting is what most people use, and is more relatable as a cookie cutter format.  Each hosting plan may have a lot of features, but they are all hosted on the same server – bulked together, and there isn’t much room to grow, if your web site is starting to meet the boundaries of your current hosting offerings.  It is much more like the Happy Meal at McDonalds.  It will not fill you up, but it does serve a purpose.

The thing to remember is that you need to do your best to find the hosting the best suits your needs first, and your budget second.
