Trouble Finding Server Path for JRE

December 14, 2009

Recently, somebody e-mailed in asking how to find a path so they could setup a script on the dedicated server side.  One of the paths were for JRE and all they had to go from was the script instructions which read.

In Red5.sh Set the value for JAVA_HOME variable. It should be the path to the folder where JRE is installed. For example:
JAVA_HOME=/opt/ray_server/jre1.x;

First place to check would be to see if JRE was installed on the server.  If JDK was installed by your dedicated support team, the path is usually /usr/java/[jdk_name]/jre, where jdk_name is the name specific to JDK version.  You might have ask for this to be installed by the dedicated server admins at your web host to get it all working.
